West Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link

Roads and Maritime Services required communication and stakeholder engagement for the Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link project to seek community feedback on five corridor options to assist in determining the concept design.

This project saw the Western Harbour Tunnel connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross under Sydney Harbour between the Birchgrove and Waverton areas and connect with the Warringah Freeway at North Sydney.

Flagship Communications provided a Senior Community Manager as part of the RMS Community Relations Team. Her responsibilities included; preparation and implementation of community liaison plans, drafting of correspondence and Fact Sheets, facilitation of community information and engagement sessions.

A key component was to identify key stakeholders, potential issues and the most effective methods of communication early while recognising the potential impacts of the project would vary depending on geographical location.

As a result, the work undertaken resulted in 4,000 face-to-face conversations with people interested in the project, and over 2,400 written submissions.
